artist statement

My practice as an artist is rooted in a sense of our evolving relationships within the animate earth. Art, as a reflective interdisciplinary process, is the means through which I investigate and share these relationships. It is one means through which we may enrich our life experience. It is an intimate response to the social and ecological conditions of our age. With a lifelong interest in natural history and a background in graphic design, illustration and painting, I have recently broadened my practice to work with dance artists, woodlanders, conservationists, marine biologists, environmental educators, geologists and geographers to investigate and express a more holistic and responsible perception of the world. I have also facilitated Environmental Art workshops with a variety of ages, both indoors and in the field and worked with youth groups to create murals based on their local ecology.
